If I decode an MP3 file to a WAV file using the --wav option the
resulting WAV file appears to have an incomplete/unusable header.
For example, after running:
mpg321 --wav output.wav input.mp3
If I then run 'file' on output.wav I get "RIFF (little-endian) data,
WAVE audio,
I suspect simplescan is not using any compression when saving the images
to the PDF file. Another work-around, if you have ImageMagick
installed:
convert -compress JPEG file-from-simplescan.pdf new-file.pdf
