The problem is much improved under Gutsy, though Network Manager still has a
hard time in situations with multiple AP to one network. Like you said, I
just have a manual setting for campus use now. At least it (almost) never
locks up now.

Could be - I would only get the crash in a situation with multiple access
points to the same network. It looked like it would flip back and forth
between two AP and eventually lose it...

The problem was fixed for me largely when I upgraded to Gutsy... it may be
the kernel.

I'm still getting the same bug with Feisty. I was able to install the
package, but Synaptic is unhappy. Its still reporting the file as not
found.

I think I may have a similiar problem - though my keyboard locks up, and
I am unable to switch to another terminal or log out or turn off the
WLAN. I'm using a Broadcom 4309 chipset with the bcm43xx driver and
wpa_supplicant. This only happens when Network Manager is forced to
scan repeatedly.

So, the last line from NetworkManager is always:

terminals, or to shut down the computer normally (though the log says it
received a shutdown signal)

wireless connects to network
I log in via the web login, and get internet
after thirty seconds, the network drops me
