I have thus confirmed it on nx7600, nx700, nx6320. You bring that to
nw8440.
However, I do know it isn't endemic to HPs as I have tested against
several HP laptops where this isn't an issue. Likely it's nx and nw
business series machines.

There is an issue with my i8042 rebinding patch. The resume script
priority should be changed to 40-ish.
Basically, it should be after 35-modules-load and before 65-console. The
reason is the rebinding takes a moment, so in X sometimes a user won't

MPT, feisty is in string freeze as of the 8th. However, that particular
string in NM hasn't been translated yet.
Attached is a debdiff with the requested string change and updated
maintainer field as per DebianMaintainerField.

libpam-keyring specifically is not compatible in combination with the
gnome-screensaver PAM module.
libpam-keyring spawns a new instance of gnome-keyring-daemon on each
instance.

Unresponsive Keyboard/Touchpad after hibernat
If you are having this issue under feisty, please try the attached
package.
This solved the issue on an nx7300. It should cause no ill-effect to
other machines. (also tested against a Presario 2200)

I tracked it down. Basically, disassociation doesn't occur properly.
NM has incorrect disassociation logic, but because of how wpa_supplicant
interacts it doesn't matter.
wpa_supplicant does an proper disassociation, but the ndiswrapper driver
doesn't handle it properly.
So, in short, it's a bug
Instead of reseting the wireless card, can you please try (in a
terminal):
sudo iwconfig ethX essid x mode managed
Replacing "ethX" with the proper interface. Leave the "essid x" as
written. Afterward, then select the network.
There is a bug in ndiswrapper / wpa_supplicant I am investigating w
