This occurs because libhal-glib/libhal- gpower.c:hal_gpower_has_suspend_error and :hal_gpower_has_hibernate_error check for the existence of "/var/lib/hal /system-power-suspend-output" and "/var/lib/hal/system-power-hibernate- output" respectively.
