In the past, the Linux/ACPI video driver invoked _DOS (Display Output Switch) with the parameter 1 to tell the BIOS to switch the video output display for us. But this conflicts with Linux native graphics drivers, and can cause all sorts of issues, including hanging the system. http://bugzilla.ke

I have found a solution that completely stops it from crashing. It's not an Ideal solution but it works for me. Remove the acpid by typing this: sudo apt-get remove acpid I have been running my computer like this for a few weeks now without it crashing at all. This still loads the acpi module wh
