People in my subnet using MAC OS X can print w/o problems. I could
print as well a week ago. It seems the latest update produce this error.

No, it didn't help from the client side.
Also, I couldn't figure out what package inserts that line, or creates
/etc/apt/apt.conf for that matter. It's not something the package 'apt'
does.

in /etc/apt/apt.conf is incompatible with a mirror running a httpd
accelerator.
The mirror cl.archive.ubuntu.com / cl.releases.ubuntu.com is configured
as a reverse proxy to be able to limit the band width of .iso files.
