Ubuntu 20.10 (PopOS on a custom Skylake generation server, not System76)
Problem started occurring after upgrade from Ubuntu 20.04 to Ubuntu
20.10 PopOS. System never experienced this problem before that upgrade
and it's a 5 year old server.

My issue was resolved by executing "pop-upgrade release upgrade" rather
than "do-release-upgrade". Additionally, I had to uninstall the gnome-
initial-setup package and install pop-desktop.This is not on a
System76 machine, but a custom server (Skylake generation).

Same here. Killing pulseaudio corrects it temporarily, then after a few
days it comes back.

(even with verbose) and I don't see a parameter for it in daemon.conf so

(set in /etc/pulse/daemon.conf). Other resample methods do not fail on

This problem went away for me after upgrading the video card from a 64MB
GeForce4 MX 4000 (Nvidia) to a 256MB GeForce 6200. All screen savers
and previews now work whereas before some would hang the box.

One additional bit of information: I am hooked through a KVM switch.
However, this does not seem to matter. Grub does not recognize a USB
connected keyboard (and I've tried different keyboards) ever since upgrading

I, too, cannot get the default audio player to activate when I insert an

Update. The cube issue was my fault. I failed to re-enable the "cube
rotate" plugin and only enabled "cube desktop." Once rotate was
enabled, it worked.
So, the only issue is that after the updates were installed GDM crashed
upon first restart (which was prompted by the updates) and 3D effects
To be clear, only the Compiz cube plugin broke after today's updates.

Thanks for the response. I do not have an overnight cron job and I can
re-create this problem at will simply by locking the screen ("Lock Screen"
choice), waiting, and then attempting to unlock the screen.
