I'm affected by this bug too. I'm using mumble 1.2.2-4 inside an Ubuntu
10.10 running inside a Virtual Box 3.2.6_OSE r63112.
Workaround for me is to 'mess around' in the devices menu and randomly
change from default to whatever I want. Then once I can hear myself (own

You are 100% right, mine was a bare install. Could not reproduce on
patched version as the 'new' button does not exists anymore.

Exactly the same symptoms here, issue appeared after patching kernel to
2.6.31.20.
Even worst, during file copy (huge amount of big files) I got I/O errors
that I beleive are linked to the freeze (well at least I hope, never
had this before).
Couldn't find any errors in usual logs
