I can also confirm this bug (found earlier in Natty, now also in Oniric
using kernel 3.0.0-13-generic). I can confirm this happens when
connecting logitec webcams with integrated mic (i.e. 046d:081b or
046d:09a5). In natty, at some stage the microphone would be recognized
and available through alsa

Based on Harrison W Hollingsworth's comment i mannaged to find a
workaround aswell.
First of all, in order to find the id of the flash window, we need to
run the following command from a terminal window:
sleep 5 && xwininfo
this will lunch xwininfo after five seconds - in those five seconds play
I can confirm that this package fixes annoyances created by the outdated
openal library (i.e. bug 575368).

forget about my last comment, notification sounds are launched by skype
through mplayer (again, same effect, no sound when mplayer is executed).
Skype and any other audio software needs to be restarted in order to
have audio working again
Please advice for further steps.

I've noticed that with other applications, when executing certain audios
with sound the same error occurs (i.e. notification sounds in skype).
May this be a problem with pulseaudio, then?
