Public bug reported: Binary package hint: indicator-sound
When using the applet to change the volume of the system, i've noticed that first my front speakers reduce sound and then the surround ones. I have checked with alsamixer open while using the applet and it does change the volume of the front speakers first, then the surround, center and lfe speakers. Also, it seems to slighltly change the volume of the PCM channel up and down (99-100-98-100-98... etc), and when the slider is up to 100% high frequencies cause a terrible tinny noise (think of a highly compressed mp3 file), which can be fixed by turning the PCM channel manually with alsamixer down to 98-96. Of course this happens again if changing the volume with the applet. I have had this issue already in 9.10 and i waited 10.04 to see if this issue would disappeared, or if it was somehow caused by any misconfiguration on my side. Made a clean installation (even moved away all my config files and it persists). lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 10.04 LTS Release: 10.04 uname -a: Linux XXX 2.6.32-22-generic #33-Ubuntu SMP Wed Apr 28 13:28:05 UTC 2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux lshw -c multimedia: *-multimedia description: Audio device product: 82801JI (ICH10 Family) HD Audio Controller vendor: Intel Corporation physical id: 1b bus info: p...@0000:00:1b.0 version: 00 width: 64 bits clock: 33MHz capabilities: pm msi pciexpress bus_master cap_list configuration: driver=HDA Intel latency=0 resources: irq:22 memory:f9ff8000-f9ffbfff lspci: 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801JI (ICH10 Family) HD Audio Controller aplay -l: **** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices **** card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 0: VT1708S Analog [VT1708S Analog] Subdevices: 1/2 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 Subdevice #1: subdevice #1 card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 1: VT1708S Digital [VT1708S Digital] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 pulseaudio --version: pulseaudio 0.9.21-63-gd3efa-dirty ** Affects: indicator-sound (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Using indicator-sound to change volume changes volume non-uniformly across channels and causes "tinny" sound https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/574580 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
