When I suspend my computer (Intel Core 2 Duo e8400 @ 3.6 GHz) to memory and
wake it up, the cpu fan, which is set to Silent mode (low RPM) in BIOS, is

I've got the same problem. (processor Intel Core 2 Duo e8400) No information
from ACPI. The /proc/acpi looks like this, there are no files with
temperatures, fan speeds or whatever useful:

I've recently upgraded from 8.04 to 8.10. Suddenly there are broken
links to java and no firefox plugin for it. The problem is that the
links point to openjdk (which I don't have anymore). Although update-
alternatives still says I've got on
