The issue is NOT present in
- cyrus-imapd_3.8.1-1~bpo12+1 from Debian bookworm-backports
- cyrus-imapd-3.8.3-1 from Debian sid
As far as I can tell, this is an issue with the Ubuntu package and not
with upstream.

cyrus-imapd: 3.8.2-1
After installing cyrus-imapd 3.8.2 on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, server side
searches using "UID search" are rejected by the server. This breaks
server side searches from Thunderbird and immediately breaks access
using e.g. roundcube webm
