Although this has happened to me a number of times I have not been able
to reproduce it by trying to drag things in chrome. The last time it
happened I was trying to select some text to copy but clicking and
moving the mouse 'grabbed' something on the page rather than selecting
the text. At least
This bug affects me also. I typically have 10+ tabs open in Chrome. If I drag
an item within chrome (often done by accident) the chrome window usually goes
white with no tabs, URL line or bookmarks showing. The mouse still moves but I
cannot click on anything or alt-tab to another application

I had this issue when I had qbittorent running for many days. top shows
hud-service eating 99% cpu.
Closing qbittorrent fixed the issue.

An update to this. I notice that it crashes when trying to spawn

My HTC One running Android 4.2.2 would not mount under Ubuntu 14.04. I

Forgot to mention I connected both of the 3TB drives to a Windows XP box
and ran disk check. No errors were found on either.

Ubuntu 13.04 freezes when copying large amount of data from one USB
As suggested I upgraded to the latest upstream kernel.
The issue persists but with slight variation.
After about 2 hours of running the copy the gui froze as already described but
this time I could crtl-alt-F1 to a terminal which I was not able to do when the
freeze happened with the older kernel
