This bug affects me also. I typically have 10+ tabs open in Chrome. If I drag
an item within chrome (often done by accident) the chrome window usually goes
white with no tabs, URL line or bookmarks showing. The mouse still moves but I
cannot click on anything or alt-tab to another application.
If I switch to a console such as ctrl-alt-F1 I can log in and running top shows
nothing unusual such as chrome using more cpu/memory than it usually does.
Killing chrome from the console does not restore the GUI, ctrl-alt-F7 remains
as it was with chrome window all white and an unresponsive Unity toolbar. If I
run Unity it resets and I can continue.

The only entries in syslog about the time of the hang are:
Apr  9 16:13:45 marty-ThinkPad-T420 console-kit-daemon[3356]: (process:24825):
GLib-CRITICAL **: g_slice_set_config: assertion 'sys_page_size == 0' failed

GLib-CRITICAL **: g_slice_set_config: assertion 'sys_page_size == 0' failed

and dmesg:
