It looks like the 177.76 update fixed the issue for me. I haven't been
able to recreate the rendering problems after I updated.

I ran the nvidia-bug-report tool, to see if there were something strange with
my installation.
That tool scanned /var/log/messages for NVRM messages.
Several API-mismatch messeges were reported, wonder why 173.14.12 is still
present in my system.

clicking in the window or alt-tab'ing will trigger a re-render of the window

[intrepid] firefox dosn't draw pages correctly after clicking a link or
switching tabs, when using
I can also confirm this as described by the original bug-reporter. This is
however not only the case with firefox. Other applications like the "login
window"-application (System->administration->Login window) also behave similar.
If i switch between tabs, some part of the content in the new tab
I can confirm that this is also an issue in edgy. I had to comment out a lot of
wacom stuff from xorg.conf.
The synaptics touchpad was set to /dev/psaux which caused, according to
Xorg.0.log, the synaptics driver to be unloaded, although I could use it.
However, by changing that to /dev/input/mi

This is not a kernel issue. The radeon driver works fine, so i guess
this bug report is targeted towards the xorg-driver-fglrx

This sounds similar but not equal to what i experience after the
2.6.17-10 kernel package was installed. This is described in bug report

are with a ati x700 mobility card.

Toshiba Laptop Freezes on Shutdown or Reboot in Ed
I just noticed that I am able to shutdown/reboot if i select 'Log out'
from the shut down dialog, and then select shutdown/reboot from gdm.
However, the freezes when entering vt is still present. It might be that
switching from graphics mode to text mode is the problem, and when i log
out to gdm it

When using the fglrx driver in ubuntu, a total freeze occurs when either
switching to one of the virtual terminals (ctrl+shift+f1) or when
selecting shut down from the menu strip. The screen is garbled, and if a
sound is playing, that will be looped.
