Sorry, Jose - a default install doesn't show the System Tools menu off
of Applications. To enable it, go to System -> Preferences -> Main
Menu. You should find System Tools toward the bottom of the list.
Click on it and then, in the right-hand pane, click the Show checkbox
for Ubuntu Device Data

Stop the presses! After another reboot, I',m seeing the same behavior
again - no gnome splash, no audio and after c. 30 seconds, a grey/white
rectangular artifact in the upper left corner of the screen. This is

Okay, I've essentially recreated the earlier scenario. Doing nothing,
gnome-cups-manager gives "No printer detected" when I double-click "New
Printer". After loading the ppdev module, it finds my HP LaserJet 6P

After installing Edgy and adding the "bad" and "ugly" gstreamer plugins,
I attempted to play a favorite (works perfectly in Dapper) radio station
from http://audio-mp3.ibiblio.org:8000/wcpe.mp3. Rhythmbox locked up
and Bug Buddy (?) appeared. I have a crash report file which

selected 'Preferences'. Haven't gotten to F-Spot yet.
