It seems one of the RAM modules in that machine degraded over time -
while memtest86 found no problems in the past, now errors are discovered
within seconds.
It's unclear when the module became faulty, but it's quite plausible
that the observed kernel panics were caused by this and that there's no

Occasionally (about once every three weeks) my machine experiences a
kernel panic somewhere in the ext4 code on shutdown (and only on

I am also contributing translations to "SQL Ledger". Unfortunately my
contributions were not included in the official "SQL Ledger" tarball but
there is a separate github-repository at: https://github.com/Tekki/sql-
ledger
In this reposity I have been advised to submit translations as
I would like to point out that there is an alternative git-repository at
https://github.com/Tekki/sql-ledger that I am contributing to. So far
the German translation is now fully complete and a new German chart of
accounts is underway as well. We also have the 3.0.6 version of SQL
Ledger.

I would like to add, that connecting the old proftpd 8.04 LTS
installation against the DB on 12.04 works well, and connecting the
proftpd on 12.04 against the old Database on the 8.04 LTS box fails. So
it's definietely the proftpd package and not MySQL.

I‘m using KDE and had that problem, too. I rather by chance changed something
in the window rules for firefox and voilà, the window reappeared when starting
firefox! So I‘m happy now. Hope this will help you too.

the reboot i noticed that the fan of my graphics card (nVidia GeForce
9300M G) started to spin faster than normal. So i opened nvidia-settings
and checked the temperature, it showed me it was 74 °C degrees

Arandr won't start on Ubuntu Studio 13.04 Beta 2

I just tried the 32 bit from live usb session and also there Arandr
won't start. Starting it from the terminal results in the same message
from the first post.
Since i have a nVidia card and use Nouveau because the nVidia driver
just won't install properly, i started to
sudo vi /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
solved it
