enablement stack; kernel v3.13. I have the MCP51 controller and get
random protocol flaps even with the physical link still up. This causes
problems as I have an NFS auto mounted home directory. My only

So I haven't had any problems since switching to a non-OpenGL
screensaver and running v260.19.21. I can live with this. As long as

driver. I have setup the same version of Ubuntu/SSH on an iBook G4
(using the Broadcom driver) and SSH works fine. The only difference is

Netbook running Maverick.
In order to get SSH working at all, I first have to remove the module

Sadly, I just had a crash. :(
Although, it is very rare as compared to before. In fact this was the
only time I moved the mouse to wake it up. Every other time has been
via keyboard. Perhaps, once again, mouse movement has something to do
with it. I will test this out over the next few weeks.

Looks like I was able to repair this issue via the resolution in bug
#386167. My username originally had a hyphen in it and I think that is
what was causing the problems logging into the Ubuntu wiki. I have
since changed it to one of the "new" names I used on the Ubuntu wiki and
it works fine now

command in a root shell since once you close the shell (aka logout) the
overrides get lost. You have to allow "init" to parse the command in
from 'rc.local' at boot time in order for it to stick. :)

Here is a workaround I found on the Ubuntu forums. Credit goes to "Dr
Small". I have confirmed this workaround works with Karmic and Lucid,
however the problem is still present in Hardy even after applying Dr.

There was a recent gnome-screensaver update. Not that it addressed this
issue, but I am monitoring to see if I get a crash since then. Terrible

This maybe a transcode bug on how it relays its progress back to
dvd::rip. However, I'd need a perl expert to prove this.

Agreed, I think a regression would be in order due to the security
implications related to this. I currently have to start the screensaver
manually and then use xset from my Mac to shutdown the displays
remotely.

I also found something interesting as well while transcoding. Say your
rip stops at 72.34%. When you transcode, it will complete a pass at
100% plus the delta missing from the rip. In other words
(100-72.34)+100=127.66% which it the completion time for transcode on a

Ok scratch the workaround ... I've confirmed that dvd::rip is just not
computing the progress right. See my initial reasoning for filing this
bug. If you rip with it, when it locks up, save your project and the
close it out. Then open up the first VOB and last VOB with VLC; you
