Problem solved. What happened? I don't know.
Puzzled with the fact that I was the only guy in Ubuntu Natty planet
with a crashed sound, decided to give another try.
This time, instead of zsync-inc my .iso sources from
cdimage.ubuntu.com , zsync-ed from the actual Natty release in nearest
mirror (
Updated to proposed kernel today (2.6.38-9)and tested the sound system
again. To use the right terminology, options at Input connector are:
Rear Microphone, Analog Line-in, Front Microphone. Front and Line-In are
mute, no device connected. Since I could see changes on the input level

It would be correct if it showed any symbol for decimal separator when
any of the (dot) keys were pressed (as it used to be). But now it only
happens on Natty, as explained (and it shows a comma, which is strange
but correct, given the Locale settings). On Maveri

calculator screen shows a comma instead of dot, as if the primary
language was set to PT_BR instead of EN.

It seems I was wrong again. It looks like the printers were loaded when I saved
the smb.conf file, which of course restarts the service. Left alone, Samba, in
my Maverick AMD64, will not periodically reload the printers and I still don't
know why.

Although the default smb.conf parameter "printing" equals to "cups"
(printing = cups) unless the parameter "printcap name" is set (printcap
name = cups) the printers do not load in the periodical "samba reload"
process referred at #30, thus requiring a manual "sudo service smbd
restart".

subsequently run "sudo service smbd restart" (too lazy and ignorant to

It seems indeed a bug. Locales was not correctly set at install (alternate).
(language English - Local Brazil) since this combination is not standard.
Although "Software Source" was correctly set to "Brazil server" the lack of a
pertinent "locales" setting caused the crash.

still present. At least in this recent Maverick clean install (where I

I'm not suggesting anything, I just stated that Lucid stable/udev 151.12
worked for my hardware, after reporting (high above) to the developers

- Burned CD - K. RC, tested - OK
- Gparted (from the Live CD) can "see" sda and all the partitions (Seagate
Sata).
Deleted Karmic Beta root partition (sda1 ext4) to install
Karmic RC AMD64 updated on Oct
Uninstalled and removed every file related to Samba, installed
everything again and the issue is gone. Please discard this bug as

Update:
Last version corrects the bug: Crash trying to set NM to Static IP.

Problems here with double boot configuration.
Running Jaunty perfectly (/root at secondary hd0,8). Installed Karmic Beta
(sept/29) at primary partition (hd0,0). Could not boot after install. Still
unable to find out why, (perhaps it did not like my grub[1] at [hd0,8]?). Reset
Grub to previous c

Running Jaunty 64 and it works. Tested for users that indeed exist.
