clean install with a live-USB. I got this error but tried anyway. The
installation never finished and my system was broken. I recently tried agai
sudo LANG=en_EN.utf8 synaptic works for me as well.

I understand Shuttleworth's argument, but I disagree. I don-t have
hotkeys for volume on my desktop, and I never change brightness. In
other words, I never see volume or brightness notifications, and every
single notification I see seems out of place. I seriously doubt I'm the

Confirming this bug. Weird thing is that if I close Do and run it from
the terminal, it works (this could however be because Do is restarted).
