I understand Shuttleworth's argument, but I disagree. I don-t have hotkeys for volume on my desktop, and I never change brightness. In other words, I never see volume or brightness notifications, and every single notification I see seems out of place. I seriously doubt I'm the only one. For this reason (and many more listed here), there should be some form of configuration possibilities for notify-osd, even if it complicates testing.
