Just tested with completely new system in VirtualBox, first installed 9.04 (the
install what my system is updated from originally) and updated to 10.04 and
then to 10.10.
It seems like the new kernel in 10.10 indeed causes the problem by using
modules in kernel itself as opposed to modules befor

with option 2.

Hmm, works for me in 10.04 using serial port. Couldn't get it to work
with USB adapter though. Using 64-bit Kubuntu.

running in Virtualbox to get the temperatures...

Ok, now tested with Ubuntu Jaunty installed to a VirtualBox virtual
machine, everything works correctly there. The system with problem was
running as host system.

after upgrading to Karmic, digitemp can't (apparently) find my 1wire network at
all. I'm using the DS9097 passive adapter connected to USB-serial converter.
I've tested that the USB-adapter does work correctly by connecting my phone.
