We had the same config as OP on his first report.
We did what OP did by rolling back to the non-socket based SSH. We have our
connections back on 22. There were zero errors in the logs to report, and when
we were originally trying to ssh with --verbose the only message shown was
"connect
I just wanted to add to this thread that I experienced the same issue
after our server performed the unattended update of openssh-server from
1:9.6p1-3ubuntu13.5 to 1:9.6p1-3ubuntu13.7. We had a custom port for
SSH, and our attempts to switch back to default so far have been
fruitless.

Fixed in jammy/linux-aws-6.8 6.8.0-1016.17~22.04.2 by compiling with
gcc12. The fix has been committed but still needs to undergo testing.

Error: out of memory while booting after installing the
@Atlas, thanks for pointing out that, after checking that HP platform
has 4 configs in the cert lab, which are sku2, sku4, sku6 and sku10,
only sku2 has this issue. So it indeed looks like a single hardware
issue.

I have been testing those packages (described in bug 2025006) from
noble-proposed for a week now, and so far I haven't seen the issue any
more.
Usually it happened at least once a week, so I am carefully optimistic.
I'd have to not see the issue for a bit longer to be completely
convinced it's fix

I just checked that it also happened on -40 kernel which is already in the
update.
I only can confirm 6.5.0-1013-oem which is the GM kernel is good, since we
always do restoring the system then dist-upgrade while testing.

I saw this with jammy:linux-realtime 5.15.0-1071.79 on scobee-kernel. I
think this was the first time this test used scobee-kernel in a while,
so that's probably why we didn't see it before.
