Hi,
This bug also affected my system (exact same symptoms) but upgrading
compiz to 0.9.11.3+14.04.20150313-0ubuntu1 did not fix it.

After installing Ubuntu 12.10, I ran Ubuntu Software Centre and searched
for the package "aptitude". No packages were found.
I installed aptitude using "apt-get install aptitude" which worked fine.
But all ubuntu packages should be able to be found and installed from
Ubuntu S
I tried the Ubuntu 64bit kernel version 3.6 on my Precise box, and I
still get the problem. I'm about to purchase a new wireless card to
see if that improves things.

2 problems (not related, I don't think) with searching the Ubuntu One
Music Store using Rhythmbox (Maverick Desktop AMD64):
1. Searched for "Pink Floyd" with Artist. Returned 100+ results -
anything with the word "pink" or
Whatever fix was implemented does not work for me: Maverick (rhythmbox
0.13.1).
Not only do additional formats appear in the "edit" list, but when a new
format is created - it is not available in the "Preferred format" list
either.

This problem still exists for me (Mythbuntu Intrepid AMD64) in lirc
0.8.3-0ubuntu2.
I chose the Dvico USB IR as part of the install configuration.
Editing /etc/lirc/hardware.conf to set REMOTE_DEVICE to /dev/usb/hiddev0
(was /dev/lirc0) fixed the problem.
