Public bug reported:

After installing Ubuntu 12.10, I ran Ubuntu Software Centre and searched
for the package "aptitude". No packages were found.

I installed aptitude using "apt-get install aptitude" which worked fine.
But all ubuntu packages should be able to be found and installed from
Ubuntu Software Centre.

FWIW, I had exactly the same problem with Ubuntu 12.04.
