When the linux-image-extra package was omitted, the brightness control
works with v3.7-rc3-raring, but when linux-image-extra was included the
brightness control did not work with v3.7-rc3-raring. I suspect that
when the linux-image-extra package is missing the display driver does
not actually work

package, the display driver started working correctly and the brightness

I tested 12.10 with v3.7-rc3-raring kernel and the FN+f9 and FN+f10
started to work even though no notification of brightness control was
shown on the screen. FN+f11 still did not work.
The v3.7-rc3-raring kernel in 12.10 did not function properly what comes
to display resolution and graphics perf
This bug also affects my HP Compaq 2510p laptop. Brightness control
hotkeys stopped working after upgrade from 12.04 to 12.10.

and once via /dev/mapper. This is also the case for my i386. I'll have

I'm having the same problem in one of my two Feisty computers.
Progress_state gets corrupted sometimes, about on every fifth shutdown.
The problem appeared a few weeks ago.
