I'm affected too.
This still happens on the final Karmick on 2.6.31-14-generic
I've checked and the snd_hda_intel module is loaded,
but my device is recognized as "Internal Audio" Output.
This used to work on jaunty

I agree with Ian; This is a huge problem to set odd and even pages manually.
We're almost on Karmick still missing this feature.

Confirming it's still present in Jaunty final release.
This is rather serious for an application maintained officially as sound-juicer.
Let me know if you need any further information on this.

Michael,
I'm sorry I posted on the fly and completely forgot about the model and the
thread.
When I realized they were missing, It came to me that editing again isn't
possible here (I'm pretty new to launchpad).

I confirm this occuring on the final Jaunty.
Made several test trying to figure it out.
On releases prior to Jaunty it's enough to
add this
"alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel
options snd-card-0 index=0
options snd-hda-intel model=vaio"
But, after upgrading the sound is still messy.
To solve you
My foult. I save python script in file name urwid.py. This is not a bug.
My fault. Sorry.

After upgrade when the new kernel version is installed and new postions
add to GRUB menu "default" attribute IMHO should change (in my case +=2)
