I think the time at which the symptoms occur might be related to the
time you turned on the computer. After you turned on the computer some
program produces the bug, and then produces it every hour.

Hmm, after the workaround was suddenly turned off, I reapplied it, and found
that /etc/apt/preferences.d had corrupted. Instead of a directory it turned
into a file which crashed apt-get. Opening the file showed nothing of interest
(an empty file) while it was about 13KB in size.

this bug should have higher priority as it could wear out the SSD. At least the
workaround should be distributed through an update.

Another affected person here. I can confirm that vboxdrv doesn't start
at boot either, tty1 to 6 don't work and that 'sudo start rc-sysinit'
fixes it. Manually executing that is, of course, not an ideal situation.

This is related to bug 445852, it causes the same effects, but under
different circumstances.
During boot on an SSD system and when logging in and starting something
rather IO intense, like firefox, the system freezes for 30 seconds, and
afterwards dmesg shows an error like

The file in the workaround does not exist. In Lucid, apparently, that
file has been judged obsolete and been removed. There's probably a file
which does the same, or some other workaround that will do this every
boot.
I attached an .sh file for the convenience, and I changed 'sudo' to
'gksudo' so

I don't know what changed, but other themes do work perfectly. They do seem to
change the font color.

So I booted without xorg.conf and it booted without proprietary drivers, and
basicly in low graphics mode. It made my fps 60 (as shown in Monitor Resolution
Settings) instead of 50, and named it 'laptop'

So I can use it at school :)
But the videocard and stuff aren't recognised very well, and the nice compiz
effects are turned off because it goes to low graphics mode. However, my friend
