Public bug reported:
If you plug in an extra monitor (for presentation, or anything) that is a
different resolution, it will do weird things. It will do weird things with all
external monitors, but I'll explain that later.
So lets say you've got yourself a monitor with 1440x900 (like me) and you plug
in an old 1280x1024 monitor, the normal Configure display settings won't
recognise it, and the monitor will be black. If you start NVIDIA X server
settings, you'll get to change the settings of the second monitor (First bug:
You should be able to change these settings without Server settings).
I figured out that the second monitor only works properly if the Y is lower or
equal to 900, or it will give this error:
Failed to set MetaMode (1) 'CRT-0: 1280x960 @1280x960 +0+0, DFP-0:
nvidia-auto-select @1440x900 +0+0' (Mode 1440x960, id: 51) on X screen 0.
Seems like a total logic error, but it happens to be that the same 2 monitors
where used on Windows without any errors, and with proper resolution and
settings!

Another small bug is that the background gets stretched, and gets very
ugly with these resolutions. The background should be scaled and should
be displayed twice; once for every monitor. (3rd bug)
I really like how Windows (Vista) manages second monitors, I hope that
managing monitors will be about the same as Windows (Vista).
