I was attempting to upgrade from 14.04 to 14.10 when this error
appeared. For a while it haulted the upgrade, but I managed to get it
cleared up, likely caused by a dependency error. Two things to note; I

I don't this this is specific to just LightDM. I tried installing KDM to
see if it too would lock up occasionally, and it does. It's very strange
because no keyboard input is recognized, not even ctrl+alt+f does
anything. Next time I'll give it a while to see if it snaps out of it.

I think I found something else that might be slightly related. I first
came across this error when I was removing some packages remotely via
ssh. There seems to be a problem with man-db. See the terminal output
below from when I removed a package. Look carefully at the last few
lines.

This sounds very similar to what I'm experiencing on Ubuntu 14.10. Basically,

in fact working and the emails were being sent. The issue was they were
being marked as spam, and on top of that, the Gmail app for Android has

Basically, when I downloaded updates, a package failed to install and screwed
things up. Ubuntu works fine now, but GRUB has two entries for the same thing.
Sometimes when one entry fails to boot, the other one works fine. It's kinda
strange because for a while the first entry in GRUB just boot
