I've tested the livecd and the sound didn't work. There are too many
bugs with Intrepid and my machine to consider it being viable on my
machine.
Herewith is the attached script. Hope it helps you get to the problem.

Hi,
I've got vostro 1310 with ALC268 intel HDA onboard sound- Previous
kernels I've had to compile the driver from scratch and to a large
extent the sound has worked (if a little quiet). Latest kernel
(2.6.24-23 and 22) broke my sound package. I'm now in -23 I've

Still having time-out error in .21 and.23 - was a bit premature in prev

I'm not sure whether this should be in with this bug or not.
I've got a dell vostro 1310 (with same realtek soundcard) and have a
variation of this problem. i've never managed to get sound working at
all in hardy without a workaround and have to do it in with every kernel
update. When I do update
Have just updated to 2.6.24-22 and the same problem is present. When I
try and look at a .vob file I get invalid argument as well. Update has
also broken sound again and buttons remain unmapped. It seems that every
update is a step backwards.

Public bug reported:
Hi,
I have dell vostro 1310. I'm using hardy latest kernel (.21). In all
kernels of Hardy have never had my webcam detected at all.
I have tried to install it following the instructions from this site,
followed all the instructions and webcam still not detected.
http://linu
Can confirm in latest kernel had to compile drivers from realtek website andadd
also digital input sources to ALSA in order for all sound to work- this picks
up headphone jack and speakers. Mic as yet untested, but think it works from
headphone source and onboard..
I followed these instructions
I have a dell vostro 1310 which has no sound/ mic at all unless
workaround applied in hardy (which makes sound not 100%). Need to check
if still works in new kernel. Has realtek alc268 chip.
when clicking on vol control get told can't find gstreamer plugins.
Driver needs to be compiled
