well in my case i reached a point where evolution 2.30 would hang in
'formatting message' as soon as I would select the first message after
starting evolution... so for me disabling that feature allowed me to
access my emails at all again... but of course (as it's often the case)

patch applied, seems to work fine on my DG35EC mainboard with integrated
(multihead capable) G35 graphics controller and screen sizes larger than
2048x2048 :-)

calculation is affected by the color value; if I draw lines with a white

I just tried compiz again, and it doesn't freeze anymore, but instead it
does a epilepsy inducing flickering when window cycling hits the
respective fullscreen application (it's not firefox specific, a
fullscreen gnome-terminal has the same effect)

(i.e. also when performed via ssh -X)
but when performing a simple "xrandr --query" it fails over "ssh -X":

cycling windows via 'alt-tab' causes the X-Server to freeze
also, Xorg.log shows repeatedly

System->Preferences->ScreenResolution works more or less thanks to
xrandr...
(except for strange devices that lack modeline information in their DDC
reply, such as the panasonic PT-AX200)

I noticed this issue on my powerbook as well since upgrading to hardy (and I
happen to use the b43 driver);
I strace(1)ed the hald-addon-input process which was running at 100% cpu, and
noticed it was looping in a poll(2) call which returned POLLNVAL for one fd,
which turned out to be non-exist
