It also breaks TensorFlow and a lot of other things.
The workaround is to do "pip install --upgrade pip" to apply the fix
from upstream, but the Ubuntu package is still broken.
Please fix, this is a pretty serious issue for anyone using Python on
Ubuntu.

As a stop-gap measure, I've added this to /etc/rc.local:
(sleep 10; service freeradius stop; service freeradius start) &
The first time freeradius is launched, it fails as usual. But then it's
stopped and started again, and this time around seems to work fine.

Wow, this is an old bug, still not fixed. I've stumbled upon this exact
same problem last week. It's due to the fact that the freeradius service
starts way too early.

This "feature" makes no sense to me. I've been using Linux on servers
since Slackware came on a stack of floppies. Any sysadmin worth their
salary will tell you it's an extremely bad decision to let the server
hang if it was improperly shut down. I want my servers to come back

I installed xserver-glx and now xine -V xv doesn't crash anymore. However, the
colors are smeared, almost like a double image. Unwatchable.
Also, -V opengl appears to work fine, but the colors are subtly wrong.

Did not upgrade from Feisty, this is a clean 7.10 install.
I believe the issue was triggered after I uninstalled Compiz packages. I played
with Compiz for a while, then got rid of it because it had compatibility issues
with some apps. Then I started to see this problem.

First off, a periodic fsck does not address the problem of data
integrity. It's there to make sure that the filesystem is consistent.
It's just a repair _attempt_ that occurs long after the damage has been
done.
Anyway, both data integrity and filesystem consistency are just fine with Ext3

This is truly very annoying and completely pointless. Ext3 on modern kernels is
very robust. There's no need for extra paranoia every 30 reboots.
In fact, Ubuntu is the only distribution that I'm using that does this. If
