This happens when I try to install blcr-utils. The package is installed
and synaptic doesn't complain, but a crash message pops up anyway. I
just need the package as a dependency for something else that I'm trying
to install, so I'm not even sure if the install is indeed broke

This bug affect me too.
I have a intel graphic card and sometimes when I watch a video or when I login
the screen shakes and changes resolution.
So I decided to switch off the TV output writing a little xorg.conf (before
there wasn't) like this:

I solved my issue by removing an old version of xulrunner which was
causing a duplicated loading in eclicpse which in turn caused the crash
