Hi Bryce, thanks for looking into this, I completely forgot about it
since it hadn't reoccurred. I'm closing it.

I've had to use #53 workaround for compiz not starting ever since 10.4.
It doesn't do anything regarding the gnome-panel bug for me, so I guess
there's something else going on.

Hi Bruce/all, first of all thank you for the hard work. I can try to
reproduce having the fix installed, but I haven't found a reliable way
to.
@iFred, I saw your method involved running git citool from the Recovery
console session. "git citool" doesn't do anything for me but complain

Today xorg has crashed on me about five times in a row, seemingly
randomly. /var/log/gdm/:0.log.1 shows the following backtrace:

Same problem here, bug does indeed occur less often than before but it still
happens. Running natty fully updated and with Ubuntu Classic Desktop.
Also, I've noticed that at least in my case, the dead zone appears to mask the
desktop, as middle-clicking it triggers the rotate desktop cube effect.

Here's a screencast I recorded showing the behavior of the dead zone

After the latest upgrade to Natty, there're many 'dead zones' in the screen,
where the server interprets as the mouse being above the desktop instead of the
current window. This happens with both Unity and Classic Desktop. Attached is a
screencast
I'm having the same issue here. But I noticed something else, if my
mouse pointer is in the dead zone, and I click my middle button, it
triggers the Inititate Rotate Cube effect from compiz (o presumably, any
other compiz effect you have binded to that mouse event). It's like the
dead zone is a hol
