I rebooted on Saturday morning (so had a fresh Unity session) and I got
it today too, my Unity is 7.2.0+14.04.20140411-0ubuntu1. I'm afraid I
can't remember how I locked it this time either, however this time I did
notice that alt+tab would bring up the unity application switcher menu
on top of th

I'm not able to reproduce at will, nor am I sure how the system has been
locked; I have a feeling the screen may have auto-locked after a
timeout.

The orignially attached files are from a session where the system had
been booted without AC or a network cable plugged in, and so eth0 wasn't
functional. The files I'm attaching here are from my current, working
session. I should probably also say, just for completeness, that the
network card uses
Verified with the latest kernel, and also found that as long as I have
at least one of the AC or network cable plugged in on boot I can use the
port, so amended the title and description.

I'm sure I've seen a bug report regarding this before, but I've searched
and have been unable to find it, and it has occurred in both Oneiric and
now Precise.
On my laptop, an HP ProBook 6555b, using a Yukon Optima 88E8059, if I do
not have the charger plugged in when I power

I thought I'd just add that I also got this issue, and the workaround
mentioned (changing PCMCIA=yes to =no) worked, however I'm not using an
ASUS motherboard - I'm using an ASRock K7S8X (details:
