I tried several things:
rebooting
standby/wakeup
reinstall lirc
different lirc driver (usb_uirt_raw and uirt2_raw)
nothing worked...
Then my wife had an excellent idea: just unplug this shitty thing and
plug it again...
And what can I say?
It worked again!
It seems my USBUIRT was s

In 10.04 lirc worked perfectly with my USB-UIRT using the driver uirt2.
After upgrading to 10.10 lirc no longer works. Every time I press a
button on my remote I get the following message in syslog:
lircd-0.8.7-pre3[1336]: uirt2: timeout reading byt
Affects me too, happens on a HP 6510b. When it fails to boot my display
shows a lot of graphic error, thats why I first supposed it is an
graphic driver related error.
