Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: modemmanager
My cell phone (Samsung SGH-A767, if it's relevant) refuses to function
as a Mobile Broadband connection in Lucid 10.04 unless the package
"fs0-gsm0710muxd" is installed. I only have access to this one cell
phone, so I can't test it much - can
Installation of the package "fs0-gsm0710muxd" (version 0.9.3.1-3 lucid)
solves this problem. I am closing this bug and filing a bug report
addressing the inclusion of this package.

Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: network-manager
In releases 8.10, 9.04 and 9.10 I was able to connect to the Internet
through my Samsung SGH-A767 over USB with the Mobile Broadband dialog in
the Network Manager. On a older computer, I can still make the
connection after upgrading from 9
This is still not fixed in Karmic
