Cimi (thanks!) suggests searching for "transition" in gtk-widgets.css and make
some tests with Precise-stock theme.
He says it's probably a bug in gtk regarding that thing.
For comparison, here's the relevant part in Quantal's theme:

I installed Quantal's theme and theme engine in Precise and i cannot
reproduce the issue anymore.
However with Precise's stock theme the segfault can still be reproduced.

Further testing (newer compiz, newer unity) showed quite no difference:
i think the seen improvement could have been consequence of compiz
running without plugins (and Unity). The next hope is the regionalDamage
patch ;)

compiz branch did actually show a super-improvement with a vdpau HD channel
running in VLC, frames looked smooth opposed to current stock window manager.
(Half cpu for vlc, compiz cpu usage to 0).

VLC actually uses vdpau, or at least this is what it says. In order to enable
support just install the nvidia proprietary driver, vdpau* packages and in VLC
(codecs tab iirc) "enable GPU acceleration" or something like that. Restart VLC
and you'll see in debug it's loading and using vdpa
i'm watching dvb-t with VLC/vdpau with Unity 5.12 and i see compiz cpu
usage is quite high.. see screenshot

we released 1.5.1 and it's in debian unstable

solves a bunch of bugs we found after releasing 1.5. also python-sexy

it may surely be a bug of the website, but as this other guy reports correctly
[1] unfortunately there are many websites that test the user-agent for a
correct visualization. I think the best choice for users in order to have a
"shiretoko" that "just works" should be to ship a firefox
in emesene-crazy there's a (new) plugin based on new jaunty notifications,
so. :)

i have intrepid running with latest updates - till yesterday i could log
in perfectly, today gdm loads, i log in and then i get nothing but an
application that is scheduled for autostart and a gnome-power-manager
error.
i tried the read-edid thing and seems broken, i'm trying to hardcode
video mod
ok found where the problem was.
xorg (wrongly) chose radeonhd driver instead of radeon one :)
i solved explicity choosing Driver "radeon" in xorg.conf

with latest kernel upgrade and preload "hack" webcam works (with some

this webcam worked out of the box in hardy in every application, now since i
upgraded to intrepid (and even with latest updates) it's not working anymore
i confirm this annoying bug:
if resolution gets changed (i.e. fullscreen apps) the icons on the panel
get scrambled after a reboot, even with "lock on panel activated"
this is VERY annoying
