I have seen a similar issue using 'yum check-update' on Ubunty Trusty
with libxml2=2.9.1+dfsg1-3ubuntu4.8 failing to parse the primary.xml.gz

I cannot edit the menu in xfce4-menueditor in xubuntu. If I try to edit
an existing entry, the menu editor just disappears. If I try to add a
new entry and then save it, my entire menu is blanked and I cannot get
the menu on screen until I copy the menu.xml from /etc/xdg/xfc
