Public bug reported:
There was a code change within PyEphem which alters the API and
underlying functionality for satellite passes between versions 3.7.6 and
3.7.7.
I have software which uses PyEphem and runs on currently supported
Ubuntu versions making it difficult to support the PyEphem API ch
Thans, I never knew I could request a backport!
Instead I've been providing my own version on my PPA,
https://launchpad.net/~thebernmeister/+archive/ubuntu/ppa, as I have an
appindicator which uses PyEphem. After Trusty goes EOL, I won't need to
provide PyEphem as I presume Debian/Ubuntu will con

FWIW, this is still an issue in Ubuntu 13.04 (and Lubuntu 13.04).
Unfortunately the laptop in question recently stopped booting up and
I've not had a chance to get it fixed (if possible)...so I can't test
