I have this same problem when trying to download torrents with
Transmission in Ubuntu 10.04. It has been affecting me since I installed
the Ubuntu 10.04 beta (prior to that I was not using Ubuntu).

The thing is NM does save files using the connection name and not the
ESSID. However, the default connection name given is "Auto ESSID" where
you replace ESSID with the actual essid. In creating this default
connection name, network manager should replace any "/" characters in
the ESSID

So there should be a decided way to deal with this. You can't just say,
the Linux filesystem cannot deal with "/" so we will stop you from

I have also experienced this bug in my recent installation of Ubuntu
8.10 Alpha 4. Similarly, I was installing over the top of my previous
Ubuntu install (ext3) and when I selected the "Edit partition" button,
the "partition size" numerical box was defaulted to the "used space"
amount of the partit

Well i have managed to fix the problem on my laptop with a bit of
intervention.
Yes, the installer stopped working once it got to the section where it
checks your hardware and loads modules (after installing packages), but
i just cancelled the installer and then continued myself.

I have just tested banshee 0.11.0 using the edgy debs.
Below is my output as I used the program. I have noticed that it no
longer writes to the console when it uses musicbrainz... but i know it
was using it because some song metadata was automatically updated.

I am running the latest edgy and banshee version 0.10.12-1ubuntu1.
Perhaps there is an update I don't have yet.
Either way - it's actually fixed in this version! (I imagine it is also
fixed in 0.11 but cannot yet confirm this).
I do however still get an error at the command line with this version
Does this mean it will not be included in the final release of Edgy?
If so - that is a shame... that Picasa Web Album exporting would have
been a mighty cool feature addition to Ubuntu!
