I am also having similar problem. When doing alt+tab and maximize
windows, the screen is flickering like anything. After sometime, it
becomes more weird, the traces of older screen remains on top of current
active screen.

My problem has been solved. I don't know what exactly did it. It might
be the latest alsa drivers. One thing still remains. If i start firefox
and play any video, and then try to record using my mic, it does record
but no sound is played back. The fix is to restart firefox. I will have
to look into

When I typed that on a terminal, it just went crazy with lots of ascii

I also faced the same problem with GMail and Hardy. Chat doesn't load
