This bug is still happening .. it really does render this whole
package unworkable .. its equivalent to the computer not working at
all. At least that way you know your data isn't being corrupted. I'm
appalled at the cavalier attitude this bug is being treated...other
end itus ... I ag
Incidentally this bug has been happening and someone suggested updating
Mutter to the latest version.
I had to install mutter to then update it to try and fix it .. so now
there are bugs due to software that was never installed in the first
place !!!

This is still happening despite the Ubuntu 20.04LTS installation being
fully patched using Liveupdate as at 25 May 2020.
In LibreOffice I have to hit Cntrl C repeatedly (more than 2 times or
click the copy icon sometimes 9 times or more to get some data and
this is just staying within Office
not sure if I just reply to you or not .. I've managed to install mainline
kernel .5.2. and 5.0 and then come forwards to even the latest 5.6 and the
problem is still there ...

uname -rs keeps returning the Linux 5.4.0-28-generic despite having
upgraded the kernel to either of the solutions you mentioned.. it says
it has upgraded successfully then after the reboot returns the same
variant.

I have had this problem, both with read and write errors but I have only
recently noticed it after doing a new install on a headless server and leaving
the screen plugged in. I have not had any crashed, data loss or data
corruption.
Interestingly I have 3 HP ML150 servers but only 2 report this
