uname -rs keeps returning the Linux 5.4.0-28-generic despite having upgraded the kernel to either of the solutions you mentioned.. it says it has upgraded successfully then after the reboot returns the same variant.
This is the sort of problem I would have expected from a beta release and most certainly not a LTS I know this is done with volunteers but as a basic user I should not have to be replacing kernels ...
