As an update, I had to reconfigure xorg and reinstall the nvidia proprietary
driver after yesterday's kernal upgrade to 2.6.28-8.24-generic and the
suspend/resume problem is now resolved.

This bug is reproducable every time the computer goes into suspend mode,
regardless of circumstances before suspending, including whether the
computer is on
Public bug reported:
In 9.04 alpha 4 (all version of headers), system crashes upon resuming
from suspend.
ProblemType: KernelOops
Annotation: This occured during a previous suspend and prevented it from
resuming properly.
