This bug is reproducable every time the computer goes into suspend mode,
regardless of circumstances before suspending, including whether the
computer is on battery or AC power. It started as soon as I updated
from 8.10 to 9.04 alpha 4, and has persisted through every kernel
release since.

When the machine locks, the screen remains off (no mouse pointer, no
message, no blank but on screen), and the cpu fan will, after
approximately 30 seconds each time, turn on. No restart keystrokes
work, and presseng the power button (which defualts to a graceful
shutdown), does not work, and the computer must me manually powered
down. Upon logging back in, I get the kernel error message included in
the bug report.

That does lock the computer in the same manner every time.
