After the missing kernel was released, I attempted to get dpkg to finish
the config but it was still stuck in a loop. Further problems with the
nvidia driver convinced me to start over with the MinimalCD. The
subsequent vmware-player install completed successfully.

I want to say I heard something about this possibly in the future. But I
agree. What Firefox did with the spelling feature is great and would be
awesome to have in Konqueror.

My installer crashed while attempting a kubuntu 6.10 install. My crash
may be due to different reasons, but seems similar enough to post here.
Set up included preparing a dual boot config laid out on /dev/hda1:
partition1(primary)=xp 11.74GB
partition2(extended)=
hda5=/boot 128MB
I posted the above comment. Since it seems only one attachment at a
time is allowed the other two will follow.

I made another package using a proper "dch -i" for the changelog
generation. It gave me:
xserver-xorg-core_1.1.1-0ubuntu12.2_i386.deb
When I installed it after
xserver-xorg-core_1.1.1-0ubuntu12.1+acpifix_i386.deb
there was nothing said about downgrading the version.

Thanks Alexander, I have run firefox in safe mode and everything seemed
fine. Indeed visiting tiipsi.com and wordpress.com brought up prompts to
install the Adobe flashplayer. I have finally managed to root out the
shockwave flash player from the .mozilla/plugins directory (I was

I started Ubuntu with Dapper. Last weekend I upgraded to Edgy using the
Alternate CD and Internet updates after.
I can't read the progress bar in Synaptic at all in Edgy. There are
light gray characters on a white background, and everything on the bar
seems to crawl around.

that the new fglrx drivers simply won't load.
Open source driver, you say? I agree that open source is mostly a good
thing, but the problem is that AIGLX and radeon drivers are slow for me.
