Wi-fi keeps asking for authorization with seemingly random intervals and
more often at computer start-up.
Seeing some tips online, I checked the options for the connection in
network manager and there were two BSSID choice
I have in the meantime switched to a new PC and this problem doesn't
occur any more. Sorry I cannot be of help.

I tried an unbind/bind with the xhci_hcd driver as explained here:
