I've checked this issue with 2 APs and have the same SSID but can't
reproduce. I don't need to forget the network setting and it will just
connect to another one when lost connection of previous one. I didn't
set any security or password for these two APs.

I was referring to the cups scheduler. You might have issues with
applications (or system applications as in the case with samba) trying
to perpetually connect to your devices' embedded colour profiles and
fails spectacularly when said profile no longer is accessible.

It looks as if you are using packages from proposed and have run into a
situation where packages are not in sync. Packages
yeah I moved it to mesa until I've verified with the older version, and
it's still happening even with -intel + mesa 11.2

Sorry, but I tried your fix last night and the issue is still there.
FWIW samba wasn't installed but samba-common was so using synaptic I
removed it. Syslog output from this morning

I'm not sure if it is a dupe. I do not see a flickering on the internal
display. ... and I'm using VGA ;-)

Yes, that's really impressing. But syncevolution gave me errors with my
server and I tried it 4 times. In the end I had 4 phone books in my
contacts app. None of them was synchronized and there was no howto how
to delete them again.
But if you ignore this and the mentioned disadvantages, Android a
XPS 13 on 16.10 neither HandleLidSwitchDocked=suspend nor
HandleLidSwitch=suspend makes machine go sleep. Screen remains enabled
(it is visible) until it turns of after some time due power settings.
/etc/systemd/logind.conf seemed to work in 16.04.

Crashing X (or any display server) can happen if it tries to make drm
calls when not owning DRM mastership. Each display server needs to have
its own guarantees that it only calls drm functions after successfully
taking DRM mastership.

@mterry The greeter gets this information from whatever LightDM says the
"default" session is. Perhaps logging into an alternative DE doesn't
update this information? I'll patch it and add a test.
